San Diego Nutritionist Natalie Mann

Natalie Mann is an experienced nutritionist - based in San Diego, California - who offers nutritional consulting services throughout North America.

One way or another, the desire for delicious food that's healthful has been a central part of Natalie's life since she was a baby.

Initially, Natalie rejected food.  You know, those jars of odd tasting, commercial baby food. Hours would pass at mealtime, but her lips remained tightly sealed. Mom vs. Baby. Cajoling. Coercing. Playing. Nothing worked, or so the story goes.

The years passed. Unexpectedly, at age 9, Natalie found herself in charge of making dinner on a nightly basis. Divorce causes many changes, and in this case, it meant Natalie’s mom became the sole breadwinner, and Natalie became the primary cook. In the kitchen, Natalie found that ingredient choices were slim because money was tight. But the chance to experiment was huge, and each year her wholesome recipe repertoire expanded.

By the time Natalie arrived at Cornell University, food took on a whole new dimension.  As a nutrition major, she expanded her knowledge of how to eat well, and learned the science behind cooking and baking.  And as a dining supervisor at Balch Hall, Natalie had an inside track on college foodservice operations.

Over the years, the focus on food continued.  Professionally, Natalie has managed two satellite cafeterias at the National Security Agency, worked as a food marketer for a Fortune 100 company, and earned an MBA from Harvard that led to consulting assignments for catering firms and specialty food businesses.

Whereas others enjoy clothes shopping, Natalie prefers her weekly jaunt to the local farmer’s market. Living in California, with its myriad fresh food markets up and down the coast, feeds this passion.

Food and nutrition also became an integral part of raising two sons. Forced to deal with an extremely finicky eater (is there a genetic link?), and another son with intolerance to both dairy and gluten, the world of healthy food preparation took on new, challenging dimensions.

After decades of cooking and baking, Natalie works in the kitchen sans recipes most of the time. But without recipes, she learned that she could not leave the cooking to others because the directions were in her head!

The obvious answer was to share and to preserve Natalie’s recipes in one place at Ambrolio Foods.  This resource provides a library of information for her boys, and now, for a growing community of people who love delicious, and healthful foods.
